I'm Shima from gemish, a natural stone accessory brand.
This Baltic amber is a beautiful lemon color unlike ordinary amber. When I see this amber, I remember the big lemon I saw that day.
This story takes place when I was in Perth, Australia.
At that time, I was attending a language school and walked to the station every day.
When I walked listening to music on headphones, I felt like I was able to enter my own world, so I loved listening to music while looking at the foreign scenery on my way to school every day.
One day, as I was listening to music as usual while walking to the station , I noticed a huge lemon lying on the side of the road in a residential area. It was about 20cm in size, something I'd never seen in Japan.
I was shocked to see such a big lemon for the first time, and wondered why a lemon was lying on the side of the road in a residential area like this. I squatted down and wondered if I was hallucinating because I was immersed in my own world with headphones on. I was filled with an indescribable sense of wonder as I gazed upon this huge lemon that I had never seen before.
I don't remember if it was a really long time or if it just felt like a long moment, but I eventually convinced myself that maybe someone had dropped it out of a shopping bag, and stood up to leave so I wouldn't miss my train.
The sun was shining brightly, and when I looked up, I noticed countless yellow trees in someone's garden along the road. I hadn't noticed because I was just looking ahead, but when I looked up, there were lots of lemons growing there.
I remember seeing lemons growing in the gardens of ordinary houses and thinking, "That's so nice! I want to plant lemons in my own garden someday." In Japan, I've seen persimmons and plums growing in gardens, but in Australia, people plant lemons.
Baltic amber is a cute yellow amber like a lemon. This amber in particular has a beautiful yellow color, and when I see it, I remember a big lemon that I found lying on the side of the road on the way to the station that day.
